The Art That Makes Memory Speak

Penhaligon’s teams up with Maggi Hambling, turning fragrance into fine art

Because We Smell Good | Dec 17, 2025

It’s not every day that the worlds of contemporary art and fragrance meet, but Penhaligon’s has been doing things differently since its founding in 1870.

To mark the brand's 155th anniversary and the reopening of their Regent Street flagship, the brand are releasing 155 limited-edition bottles of Endymion Concentré, each hand-adorned by Hambling herself.

The fragrance, inspired by the Greek myth of the shepherd beloved by the goddess of the moon, finds a natural counterpart in Hambling’s signature indigo tones and affinity for the moon. It’s an undeniably nocturnal, wintery fragrance, with a lovely lavender opening and a spiced base note provided by nutmeg. Every bottle of Endymion Concentré has been individually numbered, engraved and tied with a bespoke indigo ribbon, and comes housed in a specially designed case alongside a signed print from one of Hambling’s ink drawings.

The limited number of custom-made bottles will be available only in the newly reopened Regent Street boutique, which was refurbished by Michaelis Boyd. Stepping inside the space is a feast for the senses as it blends fragrance, bespoke furniture and artwork, including Hamish Mackie’s bronze lion-shaped fragrance table, Claire Basler’s hand-painted mural of the English countryside and a custom-made chessboard by Carl Fox and Sofia Karakatsanis.

Whether you are a perfume lover or simply drawn to beautifully crafted experiences, Penhaligon’s in Regent Street is well worth the visit.
