How small is too small?

That's the question you may find yourself asking if you pass by Tenderbooks over the next few weeks. The iconic bookshop, which boasts a selection of independent physical media, has collaborated with Creative Director Veronica Ditting to create a window vitrine exhibition featuring over 100 miniature books from her collection.

The collection spans over a century, encompassing both archived and newly published titles available for purchase at Tenderbooks. The smallest of them all is a 1952 copy of The Lord’s Prayer -  at just 5x5mm, the text is legible only with a magnifying glass! No detail has been left unfinished; the books are being displayed on custom-designed stands, built at Veronica’s own Studio Veronica Ditting.

Aside from their obvious novelty, miniature books force us to pay attention to the most unsuspecting of details: the bend of a page, the width of a line, and the heft of a spine. As physical media struggles to find its place among tech giants, these small joys serve as a mighty reminder that the pleasure of print extends far beyond text on a page.

So, if you want to discover Tenderbooks’ assortment of these small satisfactions (and perhaps grab one to slip in a stocking), then head to their store at 6 Cecil Court, WC2N 4HE, from the 16th December to 6th January.

And, if you’ve caught the tiny book bug, then make sure to check out Tank’s own collection of cigarette books, too.
