Discover Italian elegance this holiday season as Loro Piana transforms Harrods with a luxurious showcase of artisanal craftsmanship and immersive festive magic
By Eve Bailey
It’s officially that time of year. The streets of London are slowly transforming, strings of twinkling lights have been turned on as angels lined down Regent Street, the M&S canapé selection has launched and the battle of the Christmas adverts has commenced. However, our sights have been drawn to Brompton Road where Loro Piana has transformed Harrods’s windows and more with an immersive takeover; Workshop of Wonders. Bringing a touch of Italian elegance and artisanal magic to London whilst celebrating their centennial with a vibrant showcase of craftsmanship and heritage.
Taking over the entire Brompton Road façade with 36 window displays and two pop-up shops, the Workshop of Wonders invites visitors to journey through Loro Piana’s world of exquisite fibres and fabrics, inviting you to look and touch. Exquisite because the more you learn about the partnerships and the work that goes into sourcing, producing and harvesting the fibres to make the famous Loro Piana textiles, the more you appreciate the art of making fabrics, the building block of any silhouette.
The spectacle begins the moment you face the inimitable Harrods building and its windows, where clouds of cashmere and moving machinery transform fibres into cloth in the glass vignettes, culminating in a towering 17-metre holiday tree adorned with lush fabrics and ornaments. Each window is dedicated to a different chapter of the brand’s story, spotlighting the rare materials and far-reaching lands that bring Loro Piana's creations to life, from Mongolian cashmere to Peruvian vicuña.
Inside, two pop-up stores await: one showcasing cosy baby Cashmere, and another offering whimsical, holiday-themed keepsakes, our personal favourite being the cashmere Lamas which we know are meant for the children…however. Visitors can personalise scarves, discover exclusive ready-to-wear pieces, and even join hands-on workshops to craft festive decorations from Loro Piana’s luxurious materials. Additionally Loro Piana’s first book, Master of Fibers, will be available at the Door 9 Pop-Up which is quite possibly the most luxurious oversized coffee table book we have ever seen, capturing the whole Loro Piana journey.
Running from November 7th to January 2nd, blending the brand's signature understated elegance with holiday cheer, Loro Piana’s Workshop of Wonders is a testament to 100 years of exquisite craftsmanship, creating an enchanting experience for all who visit!
