A silk shirt here, a new beginning there. This is what it looks like when fashion supports women for women.

On Saturday 17th May, the #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale returns to Selfridges’ car park. But this isn’t your average boot sale (think less bargain bin, more dream archive). Last year’s sale raised over £370,000 for Women for Women International, a charity that helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives with support, dignity, and real financial tools. Granting women access to an education and skills that make independence possible. It’s about helping women reclaim stability, community, and confidence after unimaginable disruption. Fashion might not solve everything, but here, it plays a part; turning clothing into a small act of solidarity.

After such great success last year, expectations are high. And so is the standard of what’s on display. Each “booth” (more parking space allocated to a seller, or group of them) is packed with vintage gems and luxury one-offs, donated by the kind of people whose wardrobes are usually off-limits - stylists, editors, designers, and the fashion-famous.

Resale has gone from niche to necessary, and the racks and booths will be filled with pre-loved luxury and vintage fashion. All priced to sell, and ready to start another life in someone else’s wardrobe.

The magic of this sale is the rummaging and searching to find something great, as well as the stories that each piece holds. A silk blouse from a shoot. A dress that lived through someone’s best summer. A bag that deserves a second chance. Every piece means something, so clear some space in your wardrobe (and your weekend). This is a resale with real impact.
