When the weather drops to freezing, and all your old jumpers and jackets no longer seem to suffice, it’s high tide for innovation. Uniqlo have been a go-to for thermal underlayers for some time, and doubtless their HEATTECH line is a reliable favourite, but cashmere? Maybe it’s time to embrace the changing seasons.

HEATTECH Extra Warm is made of a new up-to-9% cashmere blend, letting softness take the lead. The loose knit of the material allows for free movement and a sense of breathability without sacrificing warmth. Recommended for temperatures between -5 and 15 degrees, the collection is suitable from early autumn to spring, by way of a bleak British midwinter.

Thankfully, but not surprisingly, the pieces are thoughtfully designed and flattering whilst practical. As part of global creative director Claire Waight Keller’s ongoing label, Uniqlo:C, the collection spans tops and leggings, long sleeves and short sleeves, turtlenecks and crew necks, with a dash of everyone’s current favourite, pointelle. A couple of the pieces are also part of their collaboration with French lingerie brand, Princess tam tam, allowing for chic, barely-there details to peek through.

The colours range from blueberry to burgundy, plus all the classic neutrals, allowing for a sort of pick-and-mix of warmth to keep you stylish and comfortable for the months ahead. And if you ever wanted to double-check the collection’s elegance, the campaign starring Cate Blanchett and Roger Federer makes it abundantly clear. Shop the collection below!
