Summer may feel a long way off but Chanel’s Summer 2016 makeup collection is warming us through and through. This just-launched “In the Summer Light” collection fuses deep and dark browns with vibrant pinks and corals, taking inspiration from the light and shadow of long, sunny days and desert sands. We love the ochres and browns that illuminate and warm the skin, the shimmering “empreinte du désert” eye palette that can be built up to create an ombre effect, the lips look that hydrated and healthy with a burst of colour. It’s a sultry and sophisticated collection that has us longing for sand dunes on the horizon and high-in-the-sky sun… Although let’s hope the summer is more than just a mirage.

For this collection Chanel has launched an exclusive, limited edition eyeshadow quad with each shade shaped into a rippling texture that mirrors sand dunes. The ultra-rich pigment is perfect for blending and we particularly love the golden beige shade. Wear with the limited edition, dark brown waterproof mascara in “mirage”, and a slick of waterproof rose-gold eyeliner in “sable”, for the ultimate glow effect that stays put on the beach.

Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer for lips, £22

Step away from the matte lipsticks this summer and reach for the reformulated, hydrating formulas of these fluid and comfortable Glossimers. With six new shades we particularly love “Dzhari”, a deep and iridescent cherry colour for evenings, and “Sahara” a glittery peachy pink for the day.

Le Vernis Culte nail colour, £18

We love these reformulated nail colours that now incorporate all the nutrients needed – calcium, iron, zinc and magnesium, for healthy and strong nails. The limited edition warm chocolate shade “Cavalière” is particularly sultry but for the perfect sandal shade we love “Espadrilles”, this deep and zingy orange is universally flattering. Top it all off with a coat of the new Le Gel Top Coat for high shine impact.

Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi Colour, £43

Chanel is adding two limited edition powder duos to its hugely popular Les Beiges line for the summer collection. We think Duo n01 is perfect for creating a healthy, natural glow to the skin without feeling heavy or hot on humid days. The terracotta can be used for light contouring while the golden shade is perfect for the top of the cheekbones.
