This is most certainly not the first piece you will have read on Korean beauty, or K-beauty as it has become known, and it certainly won’t be your last. Korean brands wrap brilliant products up in cute social-media friendly packaging, so it’s no wonder they fill our Instagram feeds and fill us with lust.

And now more and more of these products are being made available in both the US and UK. Just last week, LVMH announced it bought a minority stake in Korean cosmetics company Clio for $50 million.

Meanwhile European and American brands are queuing up to hire Korean beauty ambassadors and technicians in order to keep up with the expediency of Korean product development. (We’re looking forward to the launch of ten major brands’ own cushion compacts in the next couple of months.)

To see what the fuss is all about, we’ve selected our pick of the best K-beauty available to buy right now in the UK. K-pow!

Clio Stay Shine Lip Syrup

Korean women wear their colour at the centre of their lips for the ultimate bitten-cherry look. The edges of the lips are never coloured in with a pencil, instead the look is softer and more youthful. We love this Clio lip syrup to give a super-contemporary and vibrant vinyl effect that is lightweight, very long-lasting and non-sticky. It’s available in six eye-popping shades.

When Sheet Masks

We love When’s range of bio cellulose sheet masks, with each formula containing the of-the-moment molecule hyaluronic acid as well as ginseng, keeping the skin hydrated and rejuvenated. In Korea masks are more likely to be incorporated into everyday skincare, whereas they are still considered a weekly or luxury stage over here, we think When’s masks are the perfect starter masks for everyday pampering.

Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum

Pressed serums are a hybrid product that combine the high potency of active ingredients found in a serum with the light texture of a cream. Blithe has created this pressed serum from Chaga mushrooms – known for their immune-boosting properties – harvested from a tundra… yes, a tundra! The Chaga extract is also a proven source of natural melanin, so it encourages the skin’s natural sun defences too. Melt the serum into the skin and leave overnight as a mask for total hydration.
