The greatest myth of all is that French women don’t wear make-up. They do, they just wear it well: a red lip with fresh, clean skin or a sultry plum eye with barely a slick of lip balm. This French femininity is captured perfectly in the ultimate Parisian collaboration as Sonia Rykiel and Lancôme have teamed up to create a limited edition collection of make-up that reflects the sophistication of Rykiel’s legacy, launching this week.

The Lancôme expert artist Lisa Eldridge worked together with Julie de Libran, the creative director at Sonia Rykiel, to produce an effortless and cool, but ultimately wearable ode to the city of light. Comprising two palettes of smokey (Saint Germain) or plum shades (Parisian Spirit) each containing six shadows, two liners and an eye-base – creating a look that Sonia Rykiel famously paired with her flaming hair –  as well as four double-ended lip pencils with a tinted balm at one end and a matching matte lipstick at the other, a cushion blush in a peachy apricot shade and four typically Rykiel nail varnish colours in a pearly white, a marine blue, a muted olive-green and a bright coral shade.

We love the cute packaging with illustrations by street artist and Paris stalwart André as well as the quintessential Sonia Rykiel stripes. It is a whimsical yet contemporary collection – the key to the ever-elusive French-girl look.
