She is the queen of a smokey eye and a nude lip look, while her clothing designs emanate paired-back elegance. So it seems obvious that Victoria Beckham should design a capsule make-up collection for the legendary Estée Lauder. The results of this collaboration are 14 pieces, encased in vintage Estée Lauder black and gold packaging weighted in a way that feels distinctly luxurious and would compliment the inside of any handbag.

As we would expect, the eye shadows are exquisite: there is shimmering gunmetal black, bronze and emerald-green as well as a palette containing six flattering shades. And she has designed a dual-ended eye pencil: at one end is a classic kohl black and at the other a creamy nude to be used on the waterline to give the illusion of bigger and brighter eyes. There’s an illuminating primer, called Morning Aura, in a delicious golden tube which would look the part on any dressing table. And when worn with a subtle sweep of the Java Sun bronzer and layered with the specially re-launched Modern Mercury highlighter, it gives the most radiant and glowing of complexions. The look can be finished with a slick of one of two simple lipsticks in a contemporary blue-toned orange-red and, of course, a nude.

"I love to make women feel like the best version of themselves," says Beckham and we think her collection will do the job perfectly.

Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder Limited Edition Makeup Collection will be available at Selfridges, victoriabeckham.com and esteelauder.co.uk from Tuesday 13 September 2016.
