2020 has been a year where we've all had to take a good hard look at ourselves and our beauty requirements. Stripping back to basics seemed so easy...but what can't we live without?!
Never before has it been taken so literally but DIY beauty has become a new way of life for some of us in 2020. So many of our beloved salons had to close their doors, or limit slots, so we the public have had to adapt and be creative with our options.
And hasn’t it been fun, I hear you say? We at Because magazine HQ love a challenge, so these beauty awards have given us the best time to discover, play and truthfully try out what’s been on the market in 2020 and report back to you with our best findings.
The first category is: Most Innovative Beauty Products of 2020!
WINNER: SARAH CHAPMAN MESO-MELT INFUSION SYSTEM
This is groundbreaking for the consumer market. As a treatment that you would normally only be able to have done by a trained dermatologist, this new kit allows you to carry out the same procedure in the comfort of your own home.
I read the leaflet front to back and made sure I understood what I had to do –this item is pricey so I didn’t want to waste any drops !
My skin after was slightly sensitive, but after a few days, was glowing in a way I hadn’t seen for a while.
2nd PLACE: LASHIFY CONTROL KIT
When this American product first came to market, I was hooked with how natural it looked when applied underneath the lashes, rather than the normal, single between your lash line or strip.
Firstly, one effect you can't fault them on is they are super lightweight. Secondly, it's super easy to apply in the mirror, just place them along your lash line for lasting glossy lashes that go completely undetected.
Lashify offer such an array of lengths (8, 10, 12, 14, 16mm etc) and you buy either A, B, C (and so on) depending on your natural lashes and what look you want to achieve.The tutorials on the website make it easy to learn and try at home.
The downside is the price, it isn’t a cheap lash option, though the harm it causes to your lashes is much less than usual so it warrants giving it a try!
3rd PLACE: DENNIS GROSS SPECTRALITE FACEWARE
This mask has been a game changer. It means you can have your LED FACIAL LIGHT fix but in the comfort of your own home in 3 minute sessions. The effect of using this continuously during lockdowns has kept my adult acne at bay which, to me, has been life changing. I prefer to do the mask in the evenings before bed. A great Christmas gift…if you can find it!
