A recent electricity outage brought into sharp focus the delights of candlelight.  The flickering flame that is alive rather than fluorescent, a resulting atmosphere that is conducive to deep conversation and let’s face it, a more sensual evening especially when scented by a slow burn of wax.

One new scented candle sure to spice up your evening is the first collaboration candle from French fashion house known for sharp shoulders Balmain and Cire Trudon the old-worldy candlemakers.

Apparently Olivier Rousteing, the Creative Director of Balmain, is a long-time fan of Cire Trudon candles so it was the first port of call when wanting to create a container and perfume that could reflect the distinctive savoir-faire and style of both brands. Balmain’s iconic marinière (the striped top traditionally worn by sailors) became a graphic device on the glass vessel in a rich red, while the fragrance itself features leathery notes, Atlas cedarwood, gunpowder and cigar notes (or so says the brand, not that we'd really recognize the gunpowder note!), and a black rose accord.

The candles are still made by hand in Cire Trudon's workshop in Normandie, so if you want a truly luxurious experience, dialling out of all your tech gadgets and reading under candlelight, we think we may have found what you need to do just that.
