The house responsible for blending the past century’s most famous fragrance has just announced Ugandan-Canadian actress Whitney Peak will become the new face of its iconic Coco Mademoiselle perfume.

Chanel’s repertoire of aromas, which began with the singular and timeless No.5 over 100 years ago, has continued to expand in both offer and egeries. The scent itself, an ode to youth, is a warm blend of jasmine, rose, patchouli and vetiver, brightened by vibrant bursts of orange. From Kiera Knightly and Kate Moss comes Whitney Peak staring cheekily from her unmade bed, gorgeous hair and large bottle making Chanel history as the first black woman to embody the perfume, and for that matter any Chanel fragrance at all.

The 20-year-old actress, who has made waves with her breakout roles in the Gossip Girl reboot, is no stranger to Chanel, having previously served as the brand ambassador for the US market and muse for the 22 Handbag campaign. Whitney refreshingly embodies the spirit and energy of today's youth and through the campaign images, we know she’s smelling great too.
