Since the Roman and Greek times, the female body has been a symbol of sensuality, beauty and purity all together. Artists throughout the years have sculpted it, painted it, photographed it and, this month, Shonagh Marshall and Holly Hay of the Ground Floor Project are inviting audiences to examine its role in contemporary fashion photography.

As the first iteration of a three-part series in partnership with The Outnet, the exhibition, Posturing: Photographing the Body in Fashion, is in its final day of showing in South Kensington and is set to continue on to Art Basel in Miami Beach where their film Filming the Body in Fashion will be shown for the first time.

The show brings together works from photographers like Charlie Engman, Johnny Dufort and Zoe Ghertner (to name a few) and deconstructs the creative process behind their images into five thematic sections: casting, styling, props. location and layout. The final instalment, a book, Posturing: Writing the Body in Fashion, explores how the body is portrayed in the resulting work and will be available in March 2018.

Charting a project that originated in 2010 and continues to develop today, Marshall and Hay's exploration of the female form, and how we choose to capture it, is sure to leave you re-examining your own sense of perception.
