Boasting art in abundance, COS x Serpentine Park Nights at the Serpentine’s Pavilion is making the most out of the long summer evenings.

Starting tonight and recurring across eight Fridays until September, world-class interdisciplinary acts that span the fields of art in their many forms – music, film, dance and technology – are to innovate experimental creations as a direct response to the Frida Escobedo-designed space (the Mexican architect is the youngest to ever have worked on the commission).

TELFAR
Recruiting South African music and performance art duo FAKA for an all-vocal showcase, complete with a choir, winners of the lucrative 2017 Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund, TELFAR – who have long been challenging convention with their genderless, non-racial vision of fashion and off-schedule mobile pop-ups – are to give a preview of their Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Available to a ticketed audience, the pop-up seeks to emphasise ‘what is collectively owned and essentially human in style and music’, and marks the next phase in their experimental music collaborations.

Dorothy Iannone, Movie People Perpetual Performance
Since the 1960s, pioneering American visual artist Dorothy Iannone – aka ‘art’s original bad girl’ – has been creating feminist, sexually-charged art across paintings, drawings, films and books; and fighting censorship every step of the way. Among her provocative oeuvre includes her ongoing Movie People project that features a series of wooden cut-out characters – and, for the first time, the 85-year-old artist is to assemble them all together, accompanying the ensemble with poignant stories of unconditional loves and lovers.

Meriem Bennani, Avatar Idol
Working across multimedia installations, 3D animation and Instagram, the Moroccan-born New York-based artist Meriem Bennani is a digital native. Partnering with electronic musician and composer Flavien Berger, the duo will explore the boundaries of tech to create a real-time virtual dance battle through motion-capture technology and a digital avatar, Avatar Idol. The performance seeks to open up a conversation around globalised popular culture and the representation of North-African culture through wry humour.
