Podcasts are ten-a-penny nowadays; every week, it seems that another ear-delighting series enters the arena, bringing music and lessons and laughter aplently into our lives. It's hard to know where to begin! That’s why we’re cutting through the noise to chart our favourite wonders that are whirring on the airwaves. So, put your headphones in, blot out the world, and soak up some inspiration from this power trio…

The High Low
It’s near-on impossible to hold a conversation about podcasts without mentioning The High Low. Since launching in 2017, this weekly digest of pop-culture and current affairs – brought to us by journalists Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes (formerly co-hosts of The PanDolly Podcast) – has become our one-stop destination for many a moment of belly laughter, and a bevy of thought-provoking discussions.

If you’re keen to hear more from Dolly, you can tune into her hilarious yet heartbreaking series, Love Stories, where guests like actor and novelist Ruth Jones and novelist Marian Keyes get personal and talk their most defining relationships – from first love, to unrequited love, and every pivotal moment that has shaped who they are today.

The Gurls Talk
Gurls Talk, the online community founded by model and activist Adwoa Aboah in 2015 – which aims to provide a safe space for young women to get candid about navigating life, from mental health to sexuality, self-care and beyond – has now entered podcast territory.

With absolutely nothing off limits and zero topic taboos in sight, this podcast (that launched just last week on 23 November) is filled to the rafters with fierce female chat – setting out to provide women with the tools to take control of their lives. So far, we’ve heard singer and songwriter Jorja Smith talk accepting yourself for who you are (and why she hates yoga!), plus British female boxing champion Ramla Al on religion and fighting stereotypes. More where that came from, please!

Ctrl Alt Delete
These days, it’s uncommon to hear of a millennial whose career neatly slots into one title alone. Emma Gannon epitomises the multi-hyphenate maven – a concept that she explores in her book, The Multi-Hyphen Method (for which you might best know her).

What you may not be so familiar of, however, is her podcast, Ctrl Alt Delete. Discussing themes of careers, social media, creativity and the internet (now in its 167th edition, with an archive that dates back to 2016), the podcast has seen a roster of influential voices talk to the booth. Among them are WAH Nails and beautystack founder Sharmadean Reid, who unpicked productivity and distraction; author Clemmie Hooper, who detailed how to stay sane on Instagram; and novelist Naomi Alderman, who explored how to tell if you have a great idea. Get set for hours of brilliant listening.
