Are the acts of smelling and seeing two opposing sensory experiences? We think not.. As smellovision isn’t available (we’ve got high hopes for the new decade) we’ve concocted the 2019 equivalent, and looked to Miu Miu and Editions de Parfum to inspire an sensuous #BooksandLooks.

Sparking a sense of adventure and freedom, Miu Miu’s Autumn/Winter 2019 campaign, Paws Up, sets the scene of women exploring a ranch deep in the Montana countryside. Split into two books, photographer Eddie Wrey captures a sisterhood of Miu Miu women - Adut Akech, Jean Campbell and Hailey Bieber to name a few, as they undertake a journey to connect with nature. Shots of rural Montana are dispersed between candid photographs of the women, relaxing and smiling while dressed in black capes, 3D knitted dresses and embellished organza blouses. Be warned, strong feelings of nostalgic memories of female bonding will result.

Certain smells are linked with memory, and the perfect scent to match a collection of wanderlust-inspired photography would be Rose & Cuir from Editions de Parfums curated by Frédéric Malle. Self-professed as a “publishing house for the best perfumers in the business”, Frédéric Malle is the brands long-standing 'editor' and main nose . Rose & Cuir, designed by Jean-Claude Ellena, is labelled a modern reinterpretation of the rose scent, coupled with other notes of timut pepper, geranium bourbon and cassis. But the pièce de résistance? An underlayer of vetiver and cedar whose earthy tones instantly transport you to the world of Miu Miu, becoming a part of their sisterhood, exploring the woodlands.

If you’re in need of a time-out from reality, pick up Paws Up, spritz some Rose & Cuir, and reeeelaaaxx.
