A British high street will usually consist of three things: pigeons, cyclists and pooches. With 24% of the population owning a dog, it’s no surprise that we can often spot a cute canine wagging their tails down the streets and making us squeal.

With a pup being the country's loudest accessory (smaller, more bag-friendly breeds can also be spotted in Paris and Milan) the multitude of clothing options for our pets is no longer surprising. With one in five Brits admitting to splurging on outfits for their dogs, how we dress our pets is worthy of their own street-style documentation.

As our fashion-conscious eye wanders through the racks of hound habiliments, we look to Browns Fashion to give us the best array of designer outfits. Since the launch of Petements and the successful pet collection from Burberry into the retailer, the demand for dogs to be dressed in designer has been grandly met. “They’ve all been super popular amongst our customers, but Burberry was the first to sell out,” states Buying Director for Browns, Ida Petersson, who spotted the opportunity. “Petements are also a clear winner, with the DHL tee being the most popular.”

And to make the shopping experience as enjoyable to our dogs as it is for us, the Pet Palace has been curated within in the Browns East store. Open every weekend from now until Christmas, treat your puppa to a VIP experience in their new immersive room, lined with pink faux fur and Sara Shakeel (she who adorns crystals to everything) artwork. Not only is there the curated edit of the best pet clothing available, but Virginie from the E5 Dog Photography team will be on hand to commemorate the moment with two digital images. As it is the season of giving, with every booking, Butternut Bow will donate a week’s worth of dog food to the Wild at Heart Foundation charity supporting dog rescue and adoption.

As we end the year with pet-wear filling our stockings (because let's face it, dressing up our animals give us immense pleasure), Ida is envisioning a pup-tastic year ahead, “2020 will be an exciting year at Browns as we will be expanding the category further, alongside the rest of our lifestyle offering – watch this space!” Paws at the ready.

Book an appointment at the Pet Palace, for £65 via Browns Fashion.
