Because Magazine’s Little Black Book is far more than your average city guide. An insider directory to London, as seen through the eyes of our friends in fashion, beauty, fitness, food and the arts – all of them, experts in their fields – it’s your go-to Where’s Where for niche and noteworthy recommendations to help you navigate and use our Capital at its best. This week, vintage aficionado and queen of bohemian chic, Alice Temperley, shares her go-to stall on Notting Hill's Portobello Road.

"Finding true classics is always exciting."

Where... Lots of dealers have become my friends over the years, however Lucinda Portobello is one of my favourites.

Why... Having been in the industry for years as a successful stylist, she has built a huge private collection, which you can book appointments to go and view. In the past, I’ve found beautiful vintage Ossie Clarke and timeless Chanel pieces.

Because... Finding true classics is always exciting, and I love to discover great vintage pieces that you can wear forever. They always have beautiful detailing and great cuts, the techniques of which can be hard to achieve nowadays.

Everybody loves a rebel: Those outside-the-box thinkers who defy expectation and champion creativity again and again. Alice Temperley is one such designer.

As early as childhood, she saw dreaming-up and making clothes as a defiant and irresistible act, cutting up her mother’s lampshades, and turning them into garments. She has continued to be a maverick, conjuring spectacles in which a unique, wanderlust spirit and timeless sophistication intersect.

With her keen eye for elegant eclecticism, there’s no one better qualified than the queen of bohemian chic, to give us the low-down on Portobello Road’s (her stomping ground) best vintage stall.
