Because Magazine’s Little Black Book is far more than your average city guide. An insider directory to London, as seen through the eyes of our friends in fashion, beauty, fitness, food and the arts – all of them, experts in their fields – it’s your go-to Where’s Where for niche and noteworthy recommendations to help you navigate and use our Capital at its best. This week, makeup artist to the stars, Kay Montano, shares her pick for the finest facialist for miles around.

"It's of course a luxury, but facials really work!"

Where… Jackie Denholm-Moore in Chelsea.

Why… Quite simply, I love how well she understands skin. She is the only person who has been able to do extractions on me (that is, squeeze spots!) without leaving a red mark – which, usually, with my strong melanin, causes scarring. She also miraculously plumps up my skin!

Because… It’s of course a luxury, but facials really work. I’ve sent numerous actresses to Jackie.

Once you’ve got that good base, the skincare and makeup products that I’m absolutely loving at the moment include SkinCeuticals’ Hyaluronic Intensifier (it’s amazing!) and the A.G.E. Interruptor; Hourglass’ new Vanish foundation is also incredible. Both the texture and the true skin shades give such a professional finish.

What Kay Montano doesn’t know about makeup isn’t worth knowing.

Her work has graced the pages of Vogue (globally), Vanity Fair, and L’Officiel, among numerous other glossy titles, and she’s the woman behind the beauty looks of Hollywood’s most elegant names – from Jennifer Connolly, to Thandie Newton, Rachel Weisz, and Julianne Moore… We could go on!

When she’s not busy behind the camera working on our signature Beauty Tutorials, the likes of which have starred Gala Gordon, Anna Brewster and the Bloom Twins (with Kay creating unique artistry for each and every one of them), Montano is travelling the world on the awards circuit and leaving a trail of glamour in her wake.

Because we know that a beautiful makeup look begins with a well-prepared base, we’d trust no one more than Kay to recommend to us London’s very best facialist.
