The pandemic has led to the digitalisation of our social interactions, work and entertainment, and culture isn’t to be left behind. While we hope that lockdown will be soon coming to an end, we’ve collated the best cultural happenings that can be enjoyed in the comforts of your living room to keep us going till then.

Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain: The Amazon Rainforest
While the pandemic has pushed us apart, it has also managed to bring us in contact with experiences we never thought possible. Whilst the Claudia Andujar, The Yanomami Struggle exhibition is closed to the public, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain are hosting a 60-minute sound immersion into the Amazon. The soundscape ecologist, Bernie Krause, has shared a unique biophony recording from 1990, which brings us at the heart of the forest, in a natural habitat similar to Yanomami territories. This soundscape and its biophony, can no longer be heard today, for this natural habitat has since then been heavily compromised by intense logging and mining. Transport yourself into the depths of the rainforest, whilst sitting on your sofa.

Steve McQueen in conversation with Artangel
Following on from the conversation between Miranda July and our very own Editor-In-Chief, Caroline Issa, Artangel’s Co-Director James Lingwood will be in discussion with Steve McQueen, about their collaborative work over the years. Listen to the multidisciplinary award winner go into depth about his different bodies of work, and grasp at the opportunity to ‘interview’ McQueen yourself, with a Q&A closing the live stream.

An Evening with Tori Amos: A Story of Hope, Change and Courage
In the next addition of the How To academy’s live streams, Tori Amos, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter and bestselling author, will be reflecting on the experiences that have made her the artist and activist she is today. In discourse with journalist Erica Wagner, Amos will be reflecting on some of her most iconic songs, and discussing their relevance to the social and political issues of 2020.

Our favourite styling game, DREST, has collaborated with make-up artist, Mary Greenwell on a new challenge for players to take part in. From May 1st, Players can either select the limited edition Fashion Fantasy look, designed by Mary – she's also designed the digital makeup portfolio for the whole game! – for their avatar or create their own individual red carpet beauty look. For those missing getting creative with make-up, this is a digitalised resolve!

About to go into its third season, TANKtv is the answer to endless scrolling. Each season offers 10 to 12 international film classics for a duration of four weeks, with a new film being added every Friday to kick off a weekend of intellectual watching. Throughout May, the film roster includes Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin, Our Little Sister by Hirokzu Koreeda and In Bloom by Nana Ekvtimishvili – a sizable amount of artistic filmmaking to keep you going through the dreads of lockdown.
