Maison Valentino knows love. The Italian brand started its FW22 show, set amidst a bright fuschia box and the majority of the collection coming out in the same hue, with a voice note from Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and his reminder that love is all important these days.  A timely reminder given the backdrop of depressing world events, most of which come to us via the deluge of newspaper reporting and articles where words travel the world to update us.

Appropriately, Valentino has turned yet again to words with its second Narratives campaign following on from 2021's launch.  This time around, Narratives II continues as a words-only advertising campaign now involving seventeen new written pieces from renowned international authors. Given the fashion house is rooted in romance, it makes sense that love was the theme given to each of the participating authors to explore.

The result are original and individual experiments investigating what love means, how it moves and how it moves us. The campaign features the likes of Alok Vaid-Menon, Amia Srinivasan, André Aciman, Andrew Sean Greer, Brit Bennett, David Sedaris, Douglas Coupland, Elizabeth Acevedo, Emily Ratajkowski, Fatima Farheen Mirza, Hanif Kureishi, Leila Slimani, Melissa Broder, Michael Cunningham, Mieko Kawakami, Murathan Mungan and Serang Chung. PHEW!  A polyphony of voices discussing love in all its forms.

The campaign will also continue to support selected independent bookstores around the world. To ruminate on love and devotion in 2022: more amore for us!
