This week, Dior opened their largest store in Asia, a six-storey boutique in Seoul. Caroline headed to the South Korean capital to the store opening on Wednesday night and here she shares her adventure...

First night in Seoul and Dior take us to the restaurant in the Rakkojae Hotel where we eat with legs crossed and get stuffed on delicious BBQ meat and abalone porridge and the lightest of rice desserts.
The only day I had to tour the city I made sure my first stop was Boon the Shop, an amazingly curated multi-brand store with the owner’s art hanging casually – like this beautiful Caulder in the stairway.

I was over in Seoul to check out Dior’s first ever standalone store in Seoul created by Christian de Portzamparc like flower petals enveloping the boutique. Stunning.

Always have to check out the local convenience stores in a city – best way to get to know a country – and love that they sell hamburgers next to sandwiches. Why not?
Next stop was wandering Bukchon a beautiful, hilly neighbourhood and at the bottom of one of the hills was a fantastic candle and perfume maker – had to do some retail therapy there, as her candles live in mini kimchi pots.
One of my fave dishes is Bibimbap and I got my guide to take me somewhere local (where huge pots of Kimchee were outside the restaurant) - bumped into these colourful ladies too!
Had to visit the LEEUM museum, owned by Mr. Lee of Samsung - he commissioned three architects Rem Koolhaas, Jean Nouvel and Mario Botta to create three distinct buildings to house his collection and it was pretty stunning.
Time to get beautified for the Dior event at the DDP mall, Zaha Hadid’s spaceship plopped in the middle of Seoul.
Bye Seoul, it’s been fun!
