Fashion designer Phoebe English and photographer Polly Brown have collaborated on a photo-book created to accompany English's solo exhibition titled Floating, Falling, Drowning, Flying: An Introspective of Process, at Greenwich's Now Gallery

Polly stepped into the designer's Hackney atelier in the lead up to the exhibition opening, capturing moments in the studio right through to the gallery. The project became a vessel for exploring English's creative process.

"I first met Polly when we were both at Saint Martins and I've always been a fan of her work so she seemed the perfect person for it," says English. "The book's very much through Polly's eyes, it was important for me to have that female perspective and for it not to be glossy and fashion-y."

Delving deep into her archive, Polly photographed Phoebe's notebooks, ephemera and sketches in a series of ethereal still lifes. "Sifting through years of research, tests and twirls, I was drawn to the visual relationships that Phoebe creates between experimentation and design," says Polly. "The book became a compilation of such finds and hopefully it provides a small insight into Phoebe's intricate and absorbing world."

Limited to 100 copies, pre-order the book from phoebeenglish.com
