The Southwark Cathedral was a perfectly haunting setting for the romance of the Simone Rocha’s Spring Summer 2017 show. "Uniform, form, patchwork, work" said the show notes — and although it may sound like a simple recipe, it was an elaborate story told in Rocha's signature way. Thick-heeled wellies and Perspex-heeled go-go boots contrasted the embroidered sheer peasant dresses reminiscent of the countryside but ready to hit the town. Oh, how beautiful!

There's something so effortless about Emilia Wickstead’s latest collection. Nightgown-esque ensembles transformed into voluminous dresses in a romantic show that took inspiration from 1970’s “love hotels”. We loved the elegant leather slides, made in collaboration with Charlotte Olympia.

Stripes in another direction from a clean, cinched waist silhouette from the men who dressed Theresa May last Thursday night at her BFC fashion reception, palmer//harding (design duo Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding) never fail to deliver a collection brimming with, what will become, our new favourite shirts.

With Jonathan Anderson "rethinking" every collection, his bags were again a big hit and will no doubt inspire waiting lists while his summer dresses will be seen on every fashionista.

Shirt dresses and pleated knit dresses in skin-flattering nudes, khaki, burnt brown and rust — the pieces from Barbara Casasola’s Spring Summer 2017 collection would be hero items in any working woman's closet. The fray hems, second-skin knits and flowing volume all make for a casual, modern elegance that’s signature Casasola.

In an ode to the streets of London, Edeline Lee incorporated Swarovski crystals into simple silhouettes. Taking influence from Mondrian, the designer positioned primary colours against crisp white cloth — minimalism and abundance coming together in perfect harmony!

Faustine Steinmetz knows her denim. For Spring Summer 2017 she reviewed her strengths and added some new tricks — printed logos and spaghetti-yarn slippers were paired with crystalised embellishments. "This is the first time we got the balance," Faustine Steinmetz said when discussing the commercial aspect of her clothes. There is a fine mixture of machine-made elements and hand-customised details, which create a story of jeans galore. Steinmetz found a way of pushing her signature jeans in to a fresh yet approachable direction.

The Old Spitalfields Market has turned into a Topshop creative marketplace for the duration of London Fashion Week! There are small designers, vintage clothes, and independent beauty brands, but what caught our eye was the live knitting at the Wool and The Gang stall. The initiative supports fashion that is #MadeUnique and, best of all, sustainable.

Lulu Kennedy's initiative Fashion East has been a bouncing board for young designers since 2000; launching names like JW Anderson and Simone Rocha (who are also showing their collections today) — you know the platform is worth paying attention to.

This season's picks were AV Robertson, Richard Malone, Mimi Wade (who showed her designs separately) and newcomer Matty Bovan. As the rookie of the bunch, Bovan earned his place by collaborating with brands like Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu and establishing an attention-grabbing aesthetic. With sparkling fringe and a mish-mash of fishnet-like textiles, Bovan’s collection wasn't afraid of grabbing the spotlight. Robertson took risks in a very different way— her heavy embroidery attached to sheer materials created pieces that were revealing in more ways than one. Malone gave his own interpretation of the instant trend — his sculptural clothes were Instagram-friendly, with mixed stripes, cut-outs and op-art ruffles.

"I love gardening, always have," says Peter Jensen. His Spring Summer 2017 collection, Rhoda, transported us to the garden of Charleston Manor, the setting for Lady Rhoda Birley's famed photo. The verdant greens, deep yellows and cozy knits had us daydreaming of sipping tea in the English countryside.

Our coverage of Day 2 of London Fashion Week begins with a presentation by Dilara Findikoglu, proving on Planet Fashion it's never too early in the morning to visit a strip club! Soho's Sunset Strip played host to the Central Saint Martins graduate's cast of fiery characters.
