Two Fs ruled the runway at the first Christian Dior show under the helm of Maria Grazia Chiuri. Feminism and fencing. The Spring Summer 2017 collection brought youthfulness and a sporty spirit back into the house through simple printed t-shirts and Chiuri’s signature embroidered tulle dresses. Instagram-friendly looks were all over the runway, begging the spectators to discover the inspiration and put them on their wishlist. Here’s five screen characters we think would definitely fall in love with the newest vision of Dior.

The Bride from Kill Bill

Combining the name of the character and her signature look, it seems like Chiuri literally recreated a bridal edition of the yellow tracksuit well-known by Tarantino fans and lovers of the macabre genre. The ivory leather SS17 Dior version would make a perfect wedding suit for the Bride, although it would probably be a bit tougher to get the stains out.

Cadet Carey Mahoney from Police Academy

One of the most-Instagrammed looks from Paris Fashion Week was definitely the “We Should All Be Feminists” t-shirt starring the quote by Nigerian activist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. A clear statement on top of a cotton tee is something that Steve Guttenberg’s character from the 1980s cult cop-comedy coveted way back then. In the wake of the #HeForShe campaign, we’re sure the 2016 Cadet Mahoney would hack the sleeves of the Dior one and excel at field training with flying colours.

Pippi Longstocking from Pippi Longstocking

After a Pinterest invasion a few years back, braids seemed to have taken a back seat when it comes to runway beauty looks. However, Guido Palau brought back both the braid and a top-knot in big style for Dior, reminiscent of the youth and fun of the ultimate queen of plaited hair – Pippi Longstocking. For SS17, she is more refined but still remaining with her unpredictable self. Keeping the braided element, but only in the back of her hair - obviously in her signature ginger.

Miranda Frost from Die Another Day

It’s another silver screen swordswoman that would surely adorn herself in Maria Grazia Chiuri’s interpretation of a fencing uniform. Living up to her name, Frost is cold and heartless so she would probably go for the jacket without the emblazoned heart, but we can already see her fighting Pierce Brosnan in an old-fashioned sparring room. The only thing we’re not sure about is whether the suit designed by Chiuri has a hook for the body cord.

Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld

When it comes to referencing a certain sort of seafood in fashion, there isn’t anyone else we can think of but the neurotic and funny Cosmo Kramer in his lobster-printed shirt, wearing a lobster-bib munching on fresh lobsters. How would he pull off a Dior corset? We’re sure his creative self would find a way.
