Shoe shopping is the superlative form of retail therapy — low exertion, cushy seating and holding forum with friends to discuss the nuance of footwear (it’s important). This week, we paid a visit to Dr. Nicholas Kirkwood on Mount Street and came out feeling fab.

Autumn/winter 2016’s “Moon Lit” collection has just landed at the flagship — a glowy range inspired by LA nights, female electronica artists and 80s futurism in cinema. Nicholas Kirkwood’s ubiquitous pearl detail is toughened up, introduced to black leather and embedded in the heels of biker boots.

With much to covet, what are our favourites? A pair of WOW (White On White) courts, floral sandals, Mary Janes, glittering pumps and a pair of boots that are true bon chic, bon genre.

Let's see how they stack up (scroll through videos above).

Betsy Graffiti Pump, £575:

Sparkly pumps are a party-girl must. While classic stilettos are usually reserved for high-heel veterans, Nicholas Kirkwoods are very comfy and have long since passed our endurance test. Pair with a simpler outfit to keep focus on the shoes.

Maeva Pearl Ankle Boots, £750:

These boots are quintessential Carrie Bradshaw circa Russian boo in Paris. The mix of black and pearl never goes out of fashion, and can’t go wrong when matched with an all-black outfit. If we have ten minutes to get ready, we’re grabbing these.

Mary Janes, £725:

A Mary Jane instantly ages you down and smartens you up — fact. Good for channelling the bookish type, they’re the footwear equivalent of plastic-lensed reading glasses. We love how Nicholas Kirkwood has elevated this meek shoe with a mod-ish buckle and a gold block-heel. The combined effect is glossy, elegant and aspirational.

Beya Block Heel Pumps, £425:

These shoes read very professional (fashion girl on jury duty). They’re given drama with a mirrored detail above the heel, and a pure-white leather facade. Good for the girl who travels by Uber (if not, go for the London-proof pewter).

Leda Pumps, £450:

Gift alert (when in doubt, say it with flowers). We like these hibiscus-printed heels for their glowy neon shades and summery shape. More so, we love how they circumvent the girly, innocent connotations of florals with a graphic pattern and silhouette.

All products are available at Nicholas Kirkwood's London flagship, located at 5 Mount St, London W1K 3NE.
