Whistles invited us to take a spin around their King’s Cross St Pancras store. With Jane Shepherdson at the helm of this great British chain, we know we are in safe hands. But as international travellers and commuters stocked up on well-designed wardrobe staples, what stood out? A t-shirt that might not take you from the country club to the nightclub, but gave us some major retro vibes, a skirt that begs for a twirl, a dress that earned its stripes, a silky top fit for afternoon tea and a bag that proves good things do come in small packages.

Let’s see how they play out (scroll through the videos above).

Foulard Jacquard T-shirt Knit, £95

From the striped cuffs on the sleeves to the retro blue and green print, this knitwear top is a piece of preppy perfection. If subtlety isn’t your style, wear it with the matching pencil skirt.

Colour Block Pleated Skirt, £130

We dare you not to find any excuse to spin in this colour block skirt. The yellow stripe means it’s sunny enough to get you through these last weeks of summer while still transitioning seamlessly into Fall.

Multi Stripe Rib Knit Dress, £140

Your mother always said never wear horizontal stripes, but we loved the slim cut of this dress and its autumn-tone rainbow.

Edwina Floral Wrap Top, £175

This is the sophisticated older sister of the 90s started cheongsam. When worn with the matching floral trousers, there are serious pyjama suit vibes.

Micro Sidney Fringe Bag, £85

Itsy bitsy it may be, but the bucket shape means it can still fit the essentials. We love the contrast of the bohemian fringe paired with a luxe gold chain.
