Because the last countdown to summer is just about to begin, we’re pulling out all the stops to source our seasonal favourites and right now we’re all kind of smitten about pleats. While the first thing that might come to mind when thinking about pleats is your old school uniform, think again. Whether elegantly corrugated or sharp pressed these are pleats to put you at the cutting edge.

Marni Pleated cotton midi skirt (£1,000)

Pressed with sharp pleats, this Marni A-line midi skirt has an unexpectedly sexy front slit.  Made using 100% cotton, it’s a seasonally fresh mint tone and has a roughly gathered waist and asymmetric hem that will make you look cool but never prim.

Sies Marjan pleated crepe midi skirt (£735)

We’re totally sold on this salmon-coloured corrugated crepe skirt. It’s the perfect shape and fit for long warm days strolling around the city. Featuring godet pleat detailing and a raw hemline, the complex texture raises it a step above casual. Whether you wear it with a pair of high heels or a denim jacket, you’ll be ahead of the curve.

Gucci Pleated printed silk and wool-blend skirt (£915)

A gorgeous silk and wool blend skirt, Gucci's chevron-print midi skirt is nothing short of dramatic. The geometric pattern is bold in colour and has a somewhat retro aesthetic. A crepe-like texture, it’s sways beautifully with every step, giving it a real flirty and feminine quality. Preppy loafers are essential.

J.W.Anderson ombré pleated skirt (£545)

This J.W. Anderson skirt is a shaded work of art. Stare into its accordion pleats and be mesmerised by its ombré affect going from bright white to warm amber. An effortless statement.

Issey Miyake tribal-pattern pleated skirt (£1,160)

By the master of pleats, this Issey Miyake Tribal-pattern pleated polyester skirt is a contemporary take on the classic fold. An op-art treat for the eyes, it might leave you feeling hypnotised and forever under the magical Miyake spell.
