Every so often a trend comes along that totally changes how we approach dressing – the Ray-Bay Aviator is a prime example, but look back on its origins and you may be surprised. Launched over half a century ago, the aviator – or originally dubbed simply anti-glare glasses – were made to protect pilots from the sun's glare when flying, but were quickly adopted by movie and rock stars all over the world. Since then, the glasses have had some iconic moments in pop-culture history – from appearing on Johnny Depp in one of our favourite films Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, to becoming a firm favourite with the ultimate celebrity girl gang of the mid-noughties (...Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Olsen twins we're looking at you).

To celebrate the occasion Ray-Ban have released a limited edition version called of the aviator fittingly called "1937" – the year they launched – and the glasses feature a drop shaped Crystal lenses and shiny mother of pearl accents on the nose pads and temple tips. They’re sleek, super wearable and a classic that holds no risk of going out of style – what are you waiting for?
