In the case of Colville, three’s a very cool crowd indeed.

Headed up by a trio of industry stalwarts – designers Molly Molloy and Kristin Forss (who both held positions at Marni for over a decade), and stylist extraordinaire Lucinda Chambers, who worked closely with the Italian house styling its collections for two decades – the freshest brand on the block reads like a Who’s Who of fashion royalty.

An amalgam of each individual’s experience and ideas, Colville’s identity is something completely new; a merging of single tastes, it evokes a contemporary aesthetic that plays with contrasts and tests the waters of unexpected partnerships between textures, colours and silhouettes.

For its inaugural offering, launching today at Matches Fashion, the Collective (which takes its name from the Notting Hill street where David Hockney lived in the 1970s) unveils a 30-piece collection that spans tailored outerwear, printed dresses, sporty jacquard knits, oversized trousers and cropped parkas that are touted for their multiple ways of wearing.

Statement accessories from jewellery designer, Vicki Sarge, and milliner maestro, Stephen Jones, make for the first wave of collaborations, with external forces in the form of young designers and artists set to be a regular addition to collections.
