We’ve been growing increasingly comfortable (here ‘comfort’ being the operative word) with the pyjama trend for the past few seasons now; it's common knowledge that Andy Pandy ensembles have broken free of their bedroom-apropos restrictions. But slippers? Puh-lease! With the exception of an occasional, disheveled Sunday morning venture in search of food, wearing boudoir footwear en plein air isn’t a regular feature of our sartorial repertoire. That is, until now…

In the best foot news since, well, forever, unashamedly grandiose slip-ons are slinking into the style annals of SS18. Texture is key; between regal satin jacquard at Dries Van Noten, Manolo Blahnik’s ornate tapestry twosome complete with signature Hangisi buckle, and a blend of slick leather and intricate braiding via Malone Souliers x ROKSANDA, no stone is left unturned in the way of decadently decorated fabrics.

But don’t let their fancy facade fool you! In footwear terms, the new-gen slippers are basically Jacks of all trades. Backless (blisters, be gone!), though not quite as revealing as a sandal, they toe the line for office wear; plus, their solid grounding on terra firma means they’re suitable for pounding the pavements on any occasion – up to and including bleary-eyed breakfast runs.

It’s little wonder, then, that we’re declaring these slippers 'simply sublime'!
