Amidst an ever-saturated show schedule, it takes a special designer to stand out for all the right reasons... And, on a September evening atop the lofty heights of Centre Point, Alice Temperley did precisely that.
With a vibrant cast of familiar faces – Olga Kurylenko, Ellen von Unwerth and Helen McCrory to name but a few – her diverse and celebratory Spring/Summer 2019 collection was one for every woman. A pregnant and radiant Arizona Muse donned a Grecian-esque gown that floated regally down the runway; Corinne Bailey Rae looked resplendent in sunset orange, just as the sun itself was dipping below the London horizon.
Alice Temperley has mastered that ever-elusive je ne sais quoi that it takes to create pieces to flatter every woman of every silhouette – and it’s joy-making to behold.
In fact, we couldn’t wait to put our 8Qs to the designer herself...

What’s the mantra you tell yourself first thing in the morning? Get up, smile and be in the moment… Breathe! And then, get on with it.
How do you take your coffee? I’m weaning myself off caffeine and dairy, so decaf with oat milk.
If you weren't doing what you're doing now, what would you be doing instead? I would be either a mixed media photographer or a textile artist who focuses on interiors.
If you could only keep one outfit in your wardrobe, which would it be? It would have to be two... A killer Temperley London dress for the night and a suit from our Spring/Summer ‘19 collection for the daytime.

Who’s one person you’d love to have dinner with? David Attenborough. He’s my all-time hero.
What's the main thing you would like to achieve this year? Balance! Being a single, working mother is hard, and this industry is very demanding. I need to give my son much more of me, and to learn to have the right work/life balance.
Who would you want to record your audio autobiography, voice-wise? Caroline Issa!
Why did you end up doing what you do? Because... I am fascinated by colour, patterns, textiles and craftsmanship. I love creating things!
