Because there’s no place quite like the Great British high street – from its niche independents, to seasonal Pop Ups and those expansive yet elegant department stores – Because Magazine is on a mission to champion the bricks-and-mortar of London in all its glory. Each week, we’ll beeline to the rails of our favourite retailers to scope out the must-have pieces and in-store exclusives that are more than worth making an effort for.

This week, we’re at Bicester Village – where, for Chinese New Year, Susie Lau has curated a Pop Up of the nation's standout design talent to watch.

What… Fringed Jacket by Xu Zhi.

Because... "Right from the beginning, Daniel has had this fascination with doing thread-based work and manipulating textiles. The fringed jacket is a real signature piece of his; it’s got these amazing colours when you look at it up close. The thread has a sheen to it. It's very tactile."

What… Colour-block jumper by i-am-chen.

Because… "i-am-chen has been showing off-schedule in London for quite some time now. I saw her work in Shanghai at a trade show and I just gravitated towards it, because of its colours and pastels. I'm really happy to have her pieces as part of the mix as well."

What…
Printed top by Mukzin.

Because... "Mukzin is doing really fun takes on East-meets-West cultural riffs. There are lots of references to more traditional garments: The printed top that I’ve chosen is actually printed with medicine packaging... I don’t know what it cures you of though! I love the graphics and it’s a really great layering piece."
