Because there’s no place quite like the Great British high street – from its niche independents, to seasonal Pop Ups and those expansive yet elegant department stores – Because Magazine is on a mission to champion the bricks-and-mortar of London in all its glory. Each week, we’ll beeline to the rails of our favourite retailers to scope out the must-have pieces and in-store exclusives that are more than worth making an effort for.

This week, we’re at Maureen Doherty’s Belgravia emporium, egg trading, where Bella – who buys for and manages the store – has picked her three favourite styles from the current season.

What… Tom Pants by egg trading.

Because… These are a massive staple pant. We do them every season and people just love collecting them. I have 10 pairs in 10 different colours; they work in any fabric and for any occasion. You can basically do anything in them… Including running for a bus! They’re just a big giant square and really simple. In short, they’re very 'egg'.

What… Canvas Rucksack by Zilla.

Because… This is our classic rucksack that we’ve carried for a really long time now. We do this in different colours and different fabrics depending on the season; sometimes wool in winter and white cotton for summer. It’s really practical and it just gets better and better with age.

What… Regent Jacket by chez vidalenc.

Because… The designer behind this jacket is a really sweet French man who works completely on his own. Each piece has the soul of him – that’s why they’re so beautiful! This jacket in particular has become something of an egg staple. It works so well with all of the oversized things in store. We do a lot of layering and it makes for a really good layering piece – that's why we tend to get it in different fabrics, as we like to do jacket on jacket.
