It's out today! Finally, nine months in the making, my new Label/Mix collection of six summer dresses and a kimono-style jacket is online and ready to be e-shipped to your wardrobe.

When I was approached last year with the opportunity to design a collection of dresses with Label/Mix – a brand I admire for the way they nurture, support and collaborate with young British-based brands – I was over the moon. Not only would I get to partner with a brand that has pioneered direct-to-customer collections (it's only online, folks!), but I'd have the opportunity to work with a wonderful team.

The starting point? A day to dive through thousands of archive prints from revered print house, Print One, with the idea of realising a handful of dream dress shapes alongside Label/Mix Design Director, Gemma Metheringham. With the volume of beautiful vintage prints – from florals and graphic shapes to watercolour-style illustrations – it was like being a kid in a candy shop! I was so happy when Gemma and the team were up for mixing and clashing up the prints as it meant we could choose more!

My six dresses are based on vintage styles I've been collecting over the years. For instance, my red rose tea dress is based on a dress I found in a Milanese vintage shop ten years ago – the style has so many little details like ties around the arm, ruching along the length of the dress, pleated slits around the knees and a longer back hem for a flattering shape – it makes for the perfect dress to invest in and keep forever. Meanwhile, the cotton dress with buttons up along the front is another favourite of mine. I wore it around Marrakech when I visited for the recent Dior Cruise show, and despite the heat, I felt fresh... or at least looked it with the crisp cotton and maxi florals!

I'm also all for one matching jacket and dress, and so came about the lightweight kimono-style wrap jacket with oversized sleeves and contrast pocket and trim. Pair with a tee and jeans (or with the matching dress!) and you'll be ready for anything.

I've always advocated buying less, but buying better and with this exciting Label/Mix collaboration, I hope I've acheived the perfect dress capsule wardrobe that will last a lifetime.
