In keeping with this year’s Met Gala theme of ‘camp’, our tripartite styling series has turned its attention to the flamboyance, fun and power of the frill-trimmed, pussy-bow blouse.

Of a similar breed to the Gucci style co-host of the event Harry Styles wore, we’ve singled out Alexa Chung’s vintage-inspired siren red design for its relaxed fit and frill trim detailing that frames the front bib, back yoke panels and cuffed wrists.

Departing from ‘camp’ and segueing into cowgirl territory, the pussy-bow blouse is the missing puzzle piece to ranch looks. Tuck it into Ganni's leather skirt to make it all the more contemporary, keeping nods to the Wild Wild West with Fendi's silver cowboy boots that promise to make you the star of any hoedown.

Bucking bronco attire aside, the blouse too can be styled in keeping with London life. Tucking it once more, but this time into a pair of Weekday jeans, synch it in with a neon Arket belt to strike the sweet spot of clashing and complimentary colour combinations. Meanwhile, keep the essentials close with a pared-back cross-body bucket bag from Chloé.

And if that wasn't enough, styled right, the blouse has got ample androgynous possibilities, too. Nothing sings New Romantic quite like a frilly, pussy-bow blouse – and a more masculine direction throws us right back to the eighties. Achieve said look by switching out your wide leg jeans and skirt for tailored shorts. Mango's cream pare partnered with leopard print, by way of Rejina Pyo's twill jacket, is about as eye-catching as it gets.

Can't settle on one guise? There's a time and a place for all three!
