The multi-hyphenate of the fashion world, the shirt dress is a true trans-seasonal piece with ample potential. On those in-between ‘muggy’ days we nominate it as our office saviour – serving both sophistication and ventilation. Traditionally, plain pinstripes are among the rulers of print. However, in true Balenciaga fashion, the rulebook has been subverted with clashing graphic prints in a patchwork formation, complete with an unexpected collision of crisp cotton and silk.

Totally exhausted the limits of leopard print? Have a bash at sporting cow-print with Topshop’s heart-shaped ‘grab’ bag – in faux pony hair, it adds texture and panache by the bag load. Elsewhere, finishing the look with Bottega Venetta’s square-toe mules gives the look a polished, strong dimension. Did someone say rooftop drinks?

This shirt dress also invites its wearer to be experimental with proportions – and layering it over COS’ smart silk trousers is a good place to start. With an asymmetrical silk hem, the pieces become one as they seamlessly blend together. Consider this peak comfort while swanning around on overcast days. Pulling the look together (quite literally), Alaïa’s croc-effect leather belt nips the shirt in at the waist, while a textured feather bag from Loeffler Randall is a cute addition to cart around town.

Meanwhile, tie-dye is still one of our favourite trends to come through for Spring/Summer 2019 – and we’re not skimping on working it in wherever we can. Much like adding the cow-print in the first look, those who favour maximalism will find peace in Proezner Schouler’s dreamy turtleneck. In burnt orange and black stripes, this stretch-velvet number is a loud layer that continues the clash. Introducing another key piece for Spring/Summer – the bucket bag – we’ve looked to & Other Stories (who always pull through with cult styles) and its utilitarian cotton rope model. Sizeable enough to house the essentials (and some), load it up and make a beeline to the park.

Why pick one look when you can have three?
