The world might be momentarily on pause because of Coronavirus, but within fashion, creativity and cooperation hasn’t stopped. Simone Rocha’s fourth collection with Moncler is available to buy as of today, and during a period of uncertainty, her inspirational and innovative approach to reworking Moncler staples is bound to bring joy to those who view it.
Since their first showcasing at Milan Fashion Week in 2018, the Moncler Genius project has been a collaboration between the Italian fashion house and a curated selection of creative pioneers. Alongside Simone Rocha, eight other designer’s – Craig Green, Richard Quinn, and newly appointed, JW Anderson, to name a few – have been tasked with reinterpreting Moncler pieces, using their voice and artistic visions to create unique garments.
In her fourth collaborative collection with Moncler, Rocha has worked her signature romantic shapes in ways that are both dreamy and active. Expect Rocha’s usual dose of modern femininity funnelled into Moncler masterpieces; using embroidered tulle to create a trench coat, embossed floral jewels onto puffer jackets and creating raincoats with balaclava hoods, adorned with ruffles around the eye opening. While still evoking her signature stylistic qualities, this collection has a darker mood, and looks to the movement and fantasy of director Federico Fellini. Gently evocative, this collaboration balances the traits of Rocha’s designs within the world of Moncler, and we can’t get enough of it.
