Plato first said that necessity is the mother of invention, and he wasn't wrong. Now in our tenth week (!!!) of working from home, the Because team have been discussing the things that keep us sane and optimistic in these uncertain days. As a platform for sharing the things you should care about, we've wondered how we do that in a light-hearted way.

We all agree that what keeps us happy, makes us cheerful and fosters our dreams is in fact the act of celebrating desirable things made by creative people – objects we could happily treasure – and sharing the manifestations of ideas that become reality.

So as we are taking care in our homes, we bring you our newest feature, Fantasy Wardrobes, shot at home and, with a little digital magic, layered with some of our favourite pieces we've found online. So with a bit of invention and a lot of necessity, we hope to show that the online world is our oyster and do Plato proud.

Green – a colour I associate with my plants (aka. my beloved), the colour of my first piece of jewellery from my boyfriend, and the colour of fields I spent my childhood playing in –  has always been my favourite colour. With so many memories attached to the shade, I naturally always seem to gravitate to it. It's no surprise then that my heart has fallen for these Marni hoops, and while they're still a part of my fantasy, I'll be imaging all the memorable moments post-lockdown where I'll be donning them.

As a kid, somehow or other my parents' birthday gift to me transitioned from Nintendo DS games to a timeless piece of jewellery, usually featuring my birthstone: sapphire. Every year, the collection would grow with a pair of earrings then a bracelet and finally, a necklace until the set was complete. But now, they're tucked away neatly in their velvet boxes somewhere gathering dust. I'd never been particularly inclined to invest in jewellery but seeing this Libra gold plated necklace from Alighieri, I feel that I might just start collecting again – this time without my parents' help (i.e. money).

Having spent the last couple of weeks mainly in sweats and (office appropriate) PJs, one constant from my old everyday wardrobe has remained a part of my new look: my jewellery. While I have always been a fan of subtle gold hues, more recently I have found myself in awe of the unexpected freshness that versed classics can bear. Enter the pearl. In perfect unison to the flowers in my garden starting to blossom, I am fantasising about this Irene Neuwirth South Sea pearl and 18k gold bracelet. In times like these it feels almost therapeutic to find new life in forgotten treasures.
