As we all adjust to our newly conflated living/working conditions - the stream of conference call notifications and emails, general noise of children/flatmates/partners/dogs in the background, endless cups of tea and futile attempts to resist the biscuit tin, we've asked our creative friends – today we have creator, founder and CEO of DREST, Lucy Yeomans – to share with us their personal "Working From Home" spaces, to share with you. So have a nosey poke around...

I'm staying sane these days by…
Putting on a chic shirt every day, not forgoing my Chanel eyeliner and, most importantly of all, creating a daily schedule. Because of the digital nature of Drest, I am fortunate to be able to work easily remotely, but juggling back-to-back Zoom calls with childcare and home-schooling is tough, so routine is everything and trying to squeeze in some “non” screen time is a priority. Since lockdown my 7 year old daughter and I have taken to walking for an hour in the woods before breakfast, and after lunch we play rounders for half an hour before both getting back to work.

My workspace must include the following in order for me to feel calm, creative and productive:
It must be near an open window - and all my reference books on fashion, art and history. To also include one of my many black Moleskin notebooks to jot down copious To Do Lists and new ideas - I can’t brainstorm on a computer, my Roberts radio and, when possible, freshly cut flowers. But I’d trade in all of the above for stronger WiFi.

I'm staying optimistic because…
From every crisis, even one of this tragic magnitude, comes positive change. I love the strong sense of community that is being forged and oddly I feel closer and more connected than ever to family, friends and my colleagues. I love how inventive people are being with socialising under lockdown: Zoom quiz nights and dress up cocktail parties, Houseparty book clubs... I am trying and enjoying them all. I firmly believe that challenging times can inspire incredible creativity - people have to make do with the limited tools at their disposal and thus have to think more out of the box.
