A new season means new clothes. However, like people, clothes do not exist in isolation. When investing it’s important to think about how a new piece will fit with what is already hanging in your wardrobe. For a sustainable approach to consuming fashion (and without having to Marie Kondo your wardrobe every couple of months) a central item with which to work around offers manifold styling potential: an opportunity to experiment with proportions, texture and colour.

With that in mind, we’re offering different ways to style some statement pieces - showing that you don’t just have to stick to neutrals when thinking long-term.

This week we're highlighting a vintage-inspired knitted cotton shirt from Casablanca.

Style One
This ‘Yaas’ top from Casablanca  stays true to the brand’s causal but streamlined aesthetic. Made from knitted breathable cotton, it is the ideal transitional item for your spring to summer wardrobe. Pair it with these khaki belted box-pleat linen shorts from Zimmerman and these minimalist sandals from The Row for the perfect sunshine-ready edit.

Style Two
Although the knitted shirt may be inspired by vintage sportswear (think retro-athleisure), these 'Herve' trousers by Petar Petrov - master of tailoring - add structure to the look: it is casual but composed. Pair with these pastel stiletto pumps from Francesco Russo for a touch of refinement and layer it up with this glossy leather jacket from Kassl Editions in preparation for any incoming April showers.

Style Three
Spring is all about the return of colour into the world. This yellow mini skirt from Miu Miu encapsulates that. It was part of their Resort 20 collection and is inspired by classic 1940s and 70s shapes. Add these joyful floral-printed sandals from Sophia Webster for a full-on celebration of all things verdant and green.
