During the first lockdown, the Because team fantasised about all the beautiful things they wished that they could be wearing, as a way of keeping their spirits high and their minds inspired.

A year on and with the end of our third lockdown in sight, they're still dreaming of what they could be wearing and what they could be doing, but this time, they're transporting their fantasy wardrobes to another part of the globe

Desperately wanting to travel anywhere where they won't hear the mutterings of an English accent, the Because team have imagined what they would be wearing if they could go anywhere in the world. This week, managing editor Carmen Bellot, shares where she would rather be, and what she'll be wearing.

In the spring of 2019, my other half and I decided to go on an impromptu long weekend to Palermo, Sicily, and I've often found myself daydreaming about the weekend throughout the pandemic.

We spent a lot of our time wandering aimlessly around the city, excited as to what we may uncover each day. That's how we found the Palazzo dei Normanni (otherwise known as the Royal Palace of Palermo) – it's billowing columns and sun-filled courtyards have cemented itself in my memory as a place I'd happily quarantine in. If I were to visit again, I'd wear this co-ord top and trousers from Nanushka – the seersucker fabric makes the set extremely comfortable – with a simple white tee from Vaara. My necessary adventure essentials will be fashionably stored in a bucket bag from Tory Burch and I'll have some Adidas Stan Smiths on my feet, which have been made with recycled materials.

You can't go to Sicily and not visit one of their iconic beaches?! We only had the opportunity to visit one on this trip; it being the highly underrated but easily accessible Mondello beach – it's just one bus ride from Palermo's city centre. For all the other seaside locations I'm dying to explore on this little island, I'll be traipsing through the sand wearing this stunning smocked Totême dress and Gucci sunglasses, whilst holding a pair of aeyde sandals and a Chloé tote.

As a women who loves pasta, eating out was one of the highlights of my trip to Sicily, and I wouldn't miss an opportunity to dress to the nines for the occasion. In fantasy land, I'll be wearing a simple outfit that still gives maximal wow effect. Cue the purple ribbed tank from Arket, the jacquard twill skirt from Marine Serre – a favourite of mine for being the epitome of granny chic – and a pair of Toga studded mules.
