Last month, Spanish high street giant Mango reported a record turnover of €3.1bn for 2023. A staggering figure in the current climate when retailers are crumbling and an increasing number of high street shops are being shuttered. Mango’s recent success story has ushered in an exciting new collaboration with no one other than Victoria Beckham.

The Spice Girl turned WAG, turned fashion designer, who celebrates her 50th birthday today, has also had somewhat of a successful streak, reporting a profit for the first time after 14 years in business in 2022, the launch of a thriving beauty line, and the Netflix hit docuseries, Beckham (2024), which candidly traced the celebrity couple’s rise to fame. Victoria, who launched her eponymous brand back in 2008 and has been a firm fixture on the Paris Fashion Week schedule, told WWD that she had decided to work with Mango to “speak to a wider audience in a way that feels relevant to my brand and retains my aesthetic and DNA”.

But it's not the first time a high street giant has sought the sensibility of a luxury fashion brand, we’re all familiar with H&Ms annual offering, which has seen Simone Rocha, Rabanne and most recently Rokh lend their hand to create capsule collections for the Swedish behemoth, but this one feels a little more considered. A natural pairing devoid of design gimmicks or replicas rendered in cheaper materials, instead the creative fusing of two brands loyal to their commitment to elevated everyday wear.

Inspired by Jacques Deray’s La Piscine (1969) starring Jane Birkin, the collection takes cues from sun-soaked ‘70s style to propose a versatile day-to-night wardrobe. Featuring a series of pieces that can be worn once and worn again, the collection includes bias-cut slip dresses, VB’s signature flared trousers, sharp oversized blazers and staple accessories.

The latest in a series of collaborations with other brands, artists and talents such as SIMONMILLER, Camille Charrière and Pernille Teisbaek, the landmark Victoria Beckham x Mango capsule will coincide with Mango's 40th anniversary.

You’ll be able to shop the collection on April 23rd, so set your reminders now…
