Forget the boys, these are pinks to make everybody wink

Because We're Obsessed | Nov 20, 2024

In a nostalgic turn to the hues that dominated our childhood bedrooms and wardrobes, we're opting for playful pinks when it comes to our beauty routines. Swiped over cheeks, lips and eyes, bubblegum, baby and millennial pinks are having a moment, both on the runway and in our makeup bags.

While we may still be in brat green remission, we’re already welcoming a new hue to centre stage. “Think Pink” has been everywhere from runways to pop-ups (see: Onitsuka Tiger x Patou that opened yesterday in Oxford Street!), so we can’t help but respond to its call. In a cute diversion from grown-up neutrals and vampy shades, we’re witnessing a small but very bubblegum pink revolution sweep the eyes, lips and cheeks this season.

After years of drastic contouring and nudes dominating the beauty scene, we are flocking back to rosy-cheeked blush looks and kissable lip combos! With more brands than ever perfecting their blush offerings and MAC bringing back 2 iconic pink shades from the 90s, if we carry on like this we’ll end up looking like we’ve run a mile trying to catch the bus!

Barbie summer may have been more than a year ago, but the SS25 runways looked forward towards a tickled pink to come in the beauty department. Notorious for its girly aesthetics and ribboned playfulness, Sandy Liang models stepped out with the perfect bubblegum pink lip. Crafted especially for the show with Estee Lauder, MUA Romy Soleimani created ‘Sandy Pink’, a chalky millennium shade paired with a no makeup makeup look, letting the lips do all the talking.  Over at Yuhan Wang, the collection, aptly named ‘The Rose Fist’ saw rosy-cheeked models with layers of blush packed on for maximum plumpness. At All-In Studio in Paris, the shocking pink lip look gave a new edge to the sweet shade, making pink look a bit more punk.

As we move away from the sunburnt beauty looks that dominated this summer, our vibe is now more in line with the winter-pinched cheeks this chill season brings. We’ve been loving the undereye blush moment, adding a playful flush under the lashline with a cream rosy-hued product. Our fav is the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser blush. With a supple buildable formula and shades for all skin tones, you won’t need to spend a few freezing hours outside to get that brisk weather beauty.
