The new collaboration between Because favourites MERIT and Completedworks has that chemistry that gets your stomach fluttering with excited butterflies. 

Retrospect, Merit’s first fragrance launched earlier this year, was a rare example of a brand perfectly embodying its principles in scented form: nuanced, classy and, in spite of its minimalism, exciting. The Retrospect narrative is expressed once more in a set of earrings made with Completedworks.

The brands are a natural fit: both are female-led, emphasising sculptural forms and shapes. Both also offer elevated takes on everyday standards, seen here in the shimmering organic pearls that hang from the silver earrings, or the idiosyncratic contours of the gold vermeil stud. 

“The idea behind the earrings was to create subtle squeezes, pinches and folds, forming aesthetic juxtapositions – the rigid forms flowing with the lightness of fabric,” said Completedworks founder Anna Jewsbury, and it is this elevated use of contrast that gives the pieces their shimmering, mercurial gravity.
