Skin in the Game

Science backed skincare has thrummed nicely in its development over the past decade, alongside some of the smaller, nice brands offering alternatives. Yet what the biggest luxury houses have to their advantage is the resource and ambition to create scientific breakthroughs, and Dior Prestige is one of them. Its latest offering is La Micro-Huile de Rose Activated Serum, a micro-nutritive powerhouse that purports to elevate skincare to new heights. 

Designed for the face and neck, this luxurious serum delivers a boost for a more youthful, plumped complexion with its infusion of Nutri-Rosapeptides. These are an ultra-concentrated dose of 22 micro-nutrients derived from the Rose de Granville (birthplace of Monsieur Dior), enhanced with a rich oily extract and amplified by plumping hyaluronic acid. The formula revives skin that shows signs of fatigue, loss of elasticity, and diminished radiance and its unique combination of revitalising omegas, housed in 10,000 micro-pearls, helps restore the skin’s natural recovery process, leaving it firmer and more luminous.

Putting it to the test, our fashion director, Caroline Issa paid a visit to the Dior Wellness Spa at Harrods and caught up with the brand’s new Wellness expert (but we think she’s more of a magician) Hadda Akrim. Hadda developed her bespoke facial massage technique called the ‘Kobi Dior’ and it’s safe to say that with her nimble hands and long history of private client needs, Dior’s wellness approach is set to revitalise our product shelf and how we apply them. Caroline and Hadda spoke all things good skin, so get to it

1. Having your own practice, what made you want to work with Dior Beauty as well?

Growing up Dior beauty has been a big part of my passion for skincare seeing my mum using the products. I was so honored when Dior asked me to be a part of this new Wellness journey as a Dior Wellness Expert. I have great respect for the brand and their innovative approach to formulations, treatments and wellness.

2. What about the new Dior Prestige La Micro-Huile de Rose Activated Serum do you love?

I love how they have reformulated and went that step further with their clinical assessment testing it pre and post intense laser treatments. They also worked on developing the delivery system - it's extremely
important for these active ingredients to penetrate into the layers of the skin where they can make that change. I love how they have really stepped it up by adding micronutrients, peptides and the potency of
these. It also sits so well under make up and instantly calms, plumps and hydrates the skin. A true staple in my treatment room and in my own routine!

3. How best to use it?

A great thing about this serum is that you can easily combine and incorporate it into your routine in combination with other products. You can use this in the morning after your antioxidant serum and
before your moisturiser. Due to the instant hydration it gives, it sits exceptionally well underneath makeup and keeps your skin hydrated for hours. The serum also works really well overnight, underneath
your night moisturiser to maximise the skin regeneration process that happens during sleep.

4. You've developed a unique technique called the "Kobi Dior" facial massage - what is it meant to do?

Kobi Dior combines lymphatic drainage massage, deep tissue pressure point massage and sculpting techniques to lift, strengthen and tone the facial muscles and detoxify the skin. We work a lot on stimulating the blood circulation which will help deliver essential nutrients to the skin’s surface for instant results.

5. Can you give us a tip on the one thing we can do ourselves to help revitalize and ensure great skin?

Ensuring you have a nutritional balance, rich in antioxidants, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals is absolutely key for optimal skin health and function.

6. If you could only recommend three Dior Beauty products to have on our bathroom shelf, which would they be and why?

I love Dior Prestige La Mousse Micellaire because it melts and cleanses your skin so effectively without stripping or drying out your skin. Also starting off your routine with a cleanse that smells this good just sets the tone and you are creating a great canvas for your following products.
Dior Prestige La Micro-Huile De Rose Activated Serum is such a great all rounder. It's full of antioxidants, peptides and hydrating ingredients, so with this one you really are covered! Dior Capture Totale Firming and Wrinkle Correcting Cream - I love this. It's barrier protecting and a Ceramide rich and firming moisturiser. It really nourishes your skin without feeling too heavy and greasy on the skin.
