Le Labo is perhaps the perfumer of the last ten years, and now, celebrating their twentieth anniversary, a new coffee table book celebrates their impressive and unparalleled success.

Twenty years of anything is no small feat, but in the beauty and perfumery industry in particular, it is quite a lifetime. Le Labo, celebrating its twentieth anniversary this spring, has decided to launch a coffee table book to celebrate: the resultant book, The Essence of Slow Perfumery, is a commemoration of the brand’s remarkable history, with contributions from its team and community.

Authored by creative director Deborah Royer, The Essence of Slow Perfumery is a healthy five-hundred-page volume of anecdotes, artifacts and essays, all keeping within the perfumery’s signature industrial-chic design. Founded in 2006 on Elizabeth Street, New York, Le Labo has cemented itself as the go-to perfumer for smart, urbane women in Lower Manhattan and beyond, growing from a tiny artisan shop in Nolita to a worldwide success.

It is not easy creating a perfume that is instantly recognisable, less so one that is considered almost the scent of a generation – but Le Labo has. As they enter this new decade, The Essence of Slow Perfumery is a physical manifesto to ground the very illusory realm of scent in the tangible here and now.

Purchase on the Le Labo website, here, from the 1st of April.
