Stepping out of their Sloane Street bubble and onto the bustling floors of Selfridges, Giorgio Armani has delved into his archive to offer something altogether relevant for now.

The recent exhibition at the Armani Silos of 1980s Italian photographer Aldo Fallai was a surprise hit, with his black and white images and long history of collaboration with Giorgio Armani on seminal ad campaigns a revelation by a new generation hungry for source inspiration outside of the usual google search/ pinterest algorithm. These images are saucy, sensual and sometimes surprising given the “classic” tag that gets stuck to a brand that has been successful for so long, and have brought into sharp focus that term The OG.

‘Greige’, a palette made famous by Mr. Armani and personified by superstars like Jodie Foster on the red carpet over decades, has now been re-imagined in a new womenswear capsule that we’re kinda loving. They provide an elegant, modern update on the thrifted silhouettes from the 1980s we’ve all been searching for, this new release filled with dreamy cashmere knits paired with wide leg trousers, sharply tailored suits that flow and silk dresses that show off the body in just the right places. Focusing on a minimal line, they “eliminate the superfluous by concentrating on linearity”... just right for shifting away from quiet luxury, to just right luxury.!

They have partnered with Selfridges to launch a unique pop-up space where we can exclusively shop the collection until November 17th. Alongside the ready-to-wear, they have published a book to be given out to the pop-ups visitors as a takeway. Shot by photographer Ronan Gallagher and projecting the looks from the streets of Italy into a West London setting, Armani keys into a more youthful, urban approach, bringing a bit of Milano chic street style to the UK.

With a tight edit of just 15 styles, Armani’s Greige feels like the right kind of throwback to bring back right now. Go see for yourself.
