There's a Blizzard in my boot
Cowboy boots are for life not just for Summer. Take a peek at how we like to style ours during this wintry weather

Paired with joggers, jeans or floor-swepeing coats, there’s no need for your cowboy boots to be summertime exclusives.

There’s an evergreen appeal to the humble cowboy boot. With their wildly Western origins, they’ve transformed into all manner of guises, being worn by Princess Diana and Sienna Miller alike. Scuffed suede, covered in desert dust, or Italian leather and embellished with swarovski crystals, the cowboy boot lends itself to any and all aesthetic extrapolations, and trust us, they get crazy (see the crocs cowboy boots that the internet had a field day with.) And while they’ve moseyed their way into many a wardrobe, they’ve been confined to the summer months, styled with bohemian dresses or teeny tiny denim minis. Despite currently being in the throes of winter, we’re not one to let our footwear favourites gather dust so we’re sharing the many ways to style your cowboy boots for the winter months.
Cold weather dressing can often feel like you're bundling yourself up and losing all shape under layers of coats and jumpers in a bid to stay warm. With their slightly elevated heel and an elongated toe shape styling cowboy boots for winter looks can be a great way to add a sleekness to a slightly bulkier silhouette. Think floor sweeping woolen coats, in a dark navy or staple black. Match the squared off shoulders and pointed lapels with that sharp toe shape of cowboy boots as they peek out under the hem of your long coat.
It’s safe to say tights are having a moment. Technicoloured, mismatched and patterned, tights are no longer wardrobe afterthought. A delicate denier or warming woolen pair reconfigures that rockstar girlfriend look for winter, meaning that despite those bitter chills, a mini skirt and cowboy boot pairing can be styled all year long. Opt for a neutral hue of boots in a black or chocolate brown and pair with some contrasting tights to elevate the look and add intrigue with your colour palette. Recently, streetstyle snaps were serving baggy jorts paired with a variety of cowboy boots. And while a pair of jorts may not be the most alluring item to brave this January, layer over a pair of thick tights for a more practical approach.
Let’s talk denim. Offset the dark jean with a bright red pair peeking out under the draped hems and style with a chunky rollneck fisherman jumper for a totally cool girl look even in sub-zero temperatures. So, next time you're packing away your summer wardrobe, heed the call of the cowboy boot and see if your pair have a place in a winter rotation.
