Don't listen to what they tell you! Size does matter, and for your bags, bigger is always better

While mini bags have ruled the roost for the past few years, big bags are making their even bigger comeback.

Squashing and shoving, pocketing and discarding, for years we’ve been at battle with our belongings in favour of the long-reigning mini bag. From the WWW dot (world wide web) sensation, Le Chiquito by of course monsieur Jacquemus, to Fendi’s famed baguette, a personal favourite of Ms Bradshaw.
Raise your hand if you’ve had to decide between lipstick or hairbrush? Wallet or hand gel? Bulky house keys or pouch of tobacco… The mini bag days were ruthless, but, gentle reader, what if I told you that we were turning a corner? Pacing down runways, slung over stylish shoulders and filled to the brim, big bags have made their grand re-entrance.
There’s something for everyone to the big bag trend. More of a bohemian dresser? Go for a slouchier piece, perhaps in a toffee-hued suede, the kind that gets better with age. Touring with your boyfriend and his heavy metal band? You’ll want something huge, black leather but completely well worn, bonus points for metal hardware, something you don’t mind getting a little dirty as you beat it in-line with your personal chaos. Woman in STEM trying to keep her shit together? Opt for a roomy, boxy number. A bag that can carry the weight of the world for you, as well as your laptop and makeup bag, seek out structural integrity so it maintains its shape.
Ready to make the switch but don't know where to start? Allow us to expand your options and in turn, your bag size! Our personal faves include the Neous Pavo tote. With a structured base and a soft form, perfect for under arm slouchiness, the bag comes in caramel, taupe, sand, and black, available in calf leather or supple suede. Roomy enough to stow away a laptop or a gym kit, the bag features a smaller internal pouch for easy-access to phone, keys and wallet. Other faves include Coach’s Brooklyn shoulder bag, most recently dangled by Bella Hadid. Available in a natural grain leather and a handful of neutral hues, Coach allows online shoppers to see just how much they could fit in their new bag. A cute interactive addition to the website, users can add as much or as little they want to their Brooklyn bags, with the New York brand putting the proof in the pudding when it comes to spacious and roomy claims. Mini bags were fun but bigger has always been better…
